Welcome to Greenacres! We are delighted to say that we hope to be open again from Saturday 4 July. For more information about how we are dealing with Covid-19, click here.
We're Tessa and David, and we live in our family's farmhouse set in the middle of 11 acres of organic pasture on the edge of the small country village of Denstone, Staffordshire. Tessa's family has farmed here for over 150 years. We are 10 minutes from Alton Towers, close to Ashbourne, Leek and the Peak District, and a short walk from the centre of the village. It's ideal for walkers, cyclists, nature-lovers, and a lovely place to just relax. Come and stay with us, we would love to welcome you here! We have:
The Parlour Shepherd Hut, ideal for a romantic break for those with a taste for adventure who want a little luxury as well. It's a chance to get off grid. There's no TV or WiFi, but there's everything you need for a holiday to remember.
The Barn, a spacious and recently-refurbished barn conversion, and available to rent through Sykes Cottages for short breaks or for longer stays. It's ideal for couples and families, and sleeps 4. It has all the comforts of home, right in the middle of the countryside.
Rosebud, a fabulous luxury retro caravan just for two.
We (and Dara our friendly Border Collie) are very happy to welcome well-behaved dogs to Greenacres, and we are proud winners of a Silver award at the 2017 Enjoy Staffordshire Tourism awards and a Gold award in 2019.
For the latest news about Greenacres, take a look at our newsfeed on this site, and you can sign up to our Twitter and Facebook pages here too. Our Instagram feed, which you can see below, hosts Tessa's latest photos so that you can see what's going on at Greenacres and around us. If you're looking for things to do while you're here, take a look at our links page, which has lots of information about where we go and what we enjoy about this little-known part of Staffordshire. There's a lot more than just Alton Towers!
We are delighted to acknowledge the assistance of grant funding for our Shepherd’s Hut project from The European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development. Administered by Staffordshire County Council, the LEADER Programme is a European Union initiative to support rural development projects initiated at the local level in order to revitalise rural areas and create jobs. We are proud to be associated with such a successful European Union funding programme.
