Ilam Park and the White Peak

Ilam Park is a good place to start your Peak District explorations while you are staying at Greenacres.

If you feel like a gentle Sunday stroll then there is a circular walk you can complete around Ilam Park itself, or you can amble along the riverside.

The National Trust visitor centre has a route map for the basic circuit around the Hall.

The NT site is a good starting point for a couple of walks starting from Ilam:

You can be as adventurous as you like, there is a 10 mile circular route or a shorter walk down to the Stepping Stones on the River Dove. Alternatively, you can park near to the Stepping Stones and start your walk from there if you wish.

As you approach the Stepping Stones you won‘t be able to miss Thorpe Cloud, a flat topped hill alongside the Dove. If you’re feeling energetic you can scramble up to the top.

To start with though, we recommend you take the time to wander around Ilam Park and stop for tea and cake at the tea rooms there.

Water bowls for dogs 🐾 If you Park near the Stepping Stones you will need change for the car park. There are toilets here too and a stall for drinks and snacks.
