We are delighted to have taken delivery of Rosebud, a beautifully designed luxury caravan hand built by Barefoot Caravans in the Cotswolds. We’ve been camping in our lovely bell tent for years, but we have always wanted to explore Scotland (and especially the Highlands). Wild camping is legal there, and what could be better than waking up next to a Scottish loch? The only thing stopping us was, frankly, the bathroom issue (as well as the midges and the weather). We had never even thought of a caravan - then we happened across Barefoot Caravans, and fell in love with them. So will you!
The interior is compact, but there's more than enough space for two. She has a full hot air heating system and hot water supply, a fitted kitchen including fridge/freezer, and a shower/toilet. There's also a full-sized double bed, which converts into a a comfortable seating area and dining table. There's a radio, but no TV or DVD player (so if you want to watch your favourite film, bring your laptop with you). For a romantic holiday, it's perfect. If you're interested in hiring Rosebud for a holiday or short break (or are thinking of buying a Barefoot caravan and want to try before you buy), email us!
We have at last managed to find an insurance option to cover hiring her to you. Unfortunately, you won’t be able to tow her anywhere (apparently that’s far too peculiar) but it does mean that you can do the next best thing, and have Rosebud for a relaxing break.
We have joined with Superhog, which is an identity verification platform that many Booking.com and AirBnB guests and hosts are using. It uses a simple app on your smartphone (you can do it on your pc instead if you prefer). This verifies your identity in a couple of minutes, and you are then part of the Superhog community, which only the very nicest people get to join. This gives us the cover we need to hire Rosebud to you. There is a nominal monthly fee when you sign up but of course you can cancel it when you don't need it any more.
Rosebud is available to hire for a minimum of 2 nights. We are located in the heart of England, on the Staffordshire/Derbyshire border on the edge of the Peak District. There are many lovely campsites near us, and as a starting point we recommend Field Head Farm. You can check their availability on their website here. As we get out and about ourselves we will suggest other sites that we think you will love. If you have another site in mind, let us know and we will see if it's possible to set Rosebud up there and work out the cost of travelling further afield.
Once you have chosen your preferred site and dates from the calendar below, let us know by email and we will contact the site to double check dates to make sure it’s free and then confirm to you.
On the day, we will take her to the site and set her up ready for your stay. All you have to do is arrive. We will take you through everything you need to know, so don’t worry if you’ve never been in a caravan before! Our virtual brochure is here and there's a useful video from Barefoot Caravans here which gives you a guided tour,. There's another video here which gives you a bit more detail about how it all works.
