These are some of our favourite people and places....
Era of Leek, where we get a lot of our furniture and all sorts of other interesting things.
Getliffe's Yard, Leek. All kinds of wonderful things to see here.
Sam's Eggs, the best free-range eggs you will ever taste (also available from Spar in Rocester).
Nigel the butcher, in Ashbourne, for the bacon that Sam's Eggs deserve.
Denstone Farm Shop. Obviously.
Sally Montague Hair and Spa, if you aren't. Tessa's favourite place, after Nigel the butcher's.
Norbury Church, astonishingly beautiful-especially the stained glass.
The Bull's Head, Alton. Good local pub and food too-often there's a band on!
The George, Alstonefield. Award-winning pub.
Walks around Denstone for you to print out, and some information about the village.
Emma's cookshop, Uttoxeter. David's other favourite place, after the Hartington Cheese Shop.
The Black Lion, Consall Forge. Dog-friendly, great beer, a good canalside walk and trains too.
Churnet Valley Railway. Talking of trains..
Hetty's Teashop, for cake and boat trips also, surprisingly.
Hartington Cheese Shop. My word, what a shop. On the Ashbourne to Buxton road.
Calke Abbey, full of surprises. Fabulous vegetable garden.
Lud's Church and the Roaches. One of Dara's favourite walks.
Ellastone Bridge, Dara's other favourite walk. Go to see the salmon leaping in late October, at the weir.
Nelson's gin, made in Ashbourne by a friend of ours!
The Ashbourne Bakehouse, on the market square in Ashbourne-the best bread you've ever had.
The Staffordshire Cheese Company which makes the spectacularly good Buxton Blue, amongst other wonderful things, just up the road in Cheddleton. Available from the Denstone Farm shop.
The Hole at Fole, which is what happens when 4,000 tons of high explosives go off all at once. The site of the world's biggest non-nuclear explosion.
